It is understood that Captain F. Hudson, at present assistant military secretary and A.D.C. to (lenoral .Kobin, will leave New Zealand with the 11th Rein forceiuents to join the Expeditionarj Forces.
Mr. F. W. Marcbant, consulting engineer to the New Plymouth Harbor Board, will be leaving New Zealand by the Arawa early in April, andtthc board decided yesterday to invite him to visit the port and report generally an the progress of works before his departure.
Colonel R. H. Rhodes, who has been investigating the postal service and other matters connected with the troopi on behalf of the New Zealand 'Government, will return to this country shortly. He has cabled to the Minister for Defence that he will leave T'nrt Said on March 19, and is due lit Melbourne on April 13. Colonel Rhodes has been «ufferi»g iron ill-health lately. Sergt.-Major Geo. Bollinger, who left Hawke's Bay with the Main Expeditionary Force, arrived by last night' 9 express on three weeks' provisional leave. H# was a passenger from Egypt by the Tahiti, and has been elected by the Acer commanding the New Zealand forces for a commission in the reinforcements now in training at Tre'htham. Sergt.-Major Bertrand, formerly on the teaching staff of the West End School, who is to be similarly promoted, arrived by the same steamer, but broke his journey in Wellington. The Hon. T. Thompson, M.I*C, >• making n good recovery from the motor car accident he met with at HotOma a short time ago. He has made such satisfactory progress that on Friday )««k all the bandages were removed and his arms placed under X-rays., It is quite probable that he will regain the use of both arms. Mr. C. It. Tapper, who wtt injured in the same accident, is on tk« road to convalescence, and is able to walk about with the assistance of crutches.
The Rev. Father Gogjran, of Temukt, met with a very painful accident on Saturday evening last. He slipped on the stairs of the Temuka Presbytery dislocating his shoulder. Medical assistance was procured, but Father floggan would not allow the joint to 1)« bound up, as he would not then havt been able to carry out his duties on Sunday. After Father Goggau had conducted his two-services, he allowed tin doctor (gf attend to the dislocation, and he wagllien motored to ft hospital in Christchurch. He is progressing M well as could be expected, b. t it will be some before he is able to »'«• sunie his i'uty.
