MAORI HELD UP, By Telegraph.—Press Asiociation. Wellington, Last Njght. The Maori was unable to sail for Lyttelton to-night, owing to a shortage of firemen. It appears that one fireman was dismissed for neglecting to carry out an order, whereupon others of the stokehold crew gave notice and were paid off to-d»y. As not sufficient men signed on to-day the Union Company decided not to dispatch the vessel, whose malls and most of the passengers were transferred to the AYestralia, wbicb got away at 10.30 p.m. THE PETONE "WOOLLEN MILLS. Wellington, Last Night. When the whistle blew at the Pcton* Woollen Mills this morning only th* foreman aid a lafiorer turned up,, all th* others, about 75 males and 145 a f,omal*« keeping away from the works. The foremen were engaged .in clearing and finishing contracts. It Is understood that the Dominion woollen mills employers will meet next week to discuss the position.
