PIPES AND TOBACCO FOR OUR FIGHTING MEN.

To the Editor. Sir,—To show our soldiers at the front we remember them, may r ask soldiers now in Xew Zealand—returned, the men with hearts, tlie turned ""»ns and old soldiers—to send their comrades at the front a pipe to commemorate April So. A large firm of aicrcnanis have offered to supply the same at landed cost, so a really good, useful pipe can be sent for Is. . These we will enclose in a printed envelope, with a suitable wording, and you can enclose a short note with your name. We will pack the pipes free and hand them to the Defence Department to forward and distribute. Send along Is—we will do the rest free. May we ask the public to fill the pipes? The best way to do so is through the Tobacco Fund. Messrs H. 0. Wills' kind offer is 100 cigarettes and 4oz tobacco of 12oz tobacco for 2s 6d. We are authorised to collect, and do so most willingly. There was nothing I appreciated so much at the front as a gift of tobacco. Ask any returned man, and be will tell you the same. We willacknowledge every subscription sent us and forward the money to the proper quarters every few days without any deduction whatever. Pipe list closes April 21. Smoke, oh, for our gallant lads! Pipes from their comrades, tobacco from their friends!—l am, etc.,

F. NORMS, Hon. Organiser National Service League, Masterton (Incorporated).
