RED CROSS CONFERENCE.
MEETING IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph. —Press Assaeiatien. Wellington, Yesterday. A conference of ladies from all parts of the Dominion interested in the Red Cross work was held in Wellington, the Countess of Liverpool presiding. An offer by Mr. Bernard Trip, of Timaru, to go to Egypt at his own expense to supervise the distribution of gifts to New Zealand troops was accepted. Discussion took place on the railway charges on parcels of material sent to country districts, but it was found that no alteration could be made. The question of stimulation of interest in the supply of gifts of knitted comforts by holding a Dominion contest was discussed, but the matter was left to the various centres, as a Dominion contest was not considered advisable.
