STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. Rev. R. B. Tinsley, of Opunake, succeedes the Rev. A, Reader, in charge of the Stratford Methodist Church. Rev. Reader, is being transferred to Thorndon, Wellington. The Borough Council should be censured for their indifference regarding the public health of this town. Over two months ago, the Public Health authorities wrote to the Council and recommended a house to house inspection of the Borough, but, as yet, nothing has been done. To-day my attention was drawn to the state of a backyard in the business portion of Broadway, and it is a positive disgrace that the owner has not been called upon to put the place in a sanitary condition. The Council decided at its January meeting to give the engineer instructions to make an inspection of all premises after he had attended to the asphalting of the footpaths. I s the asphalting c/ a few footpaths of more consideration than the health of the people? If the people of this town were to wait till these footpaths are attended to it looks as if the inspection will not be made this side of Christmas
