ITALY SHORT OF SHIPPING. Italy is feeling the shortage ol tonnage severely. Admiral Bettolo suggested that they should arrange for the construction of 50,000 tons of cargo boats in the next ten years. These would be at the disposal of tlie State in a national emergency, the builders receiving a subsidy of £200,000 annually. CRISIS IN GREECE IMMINENT. Cairo asserts that M. Venizelos had several interviews with King Constanptine, in which they became reconciled. A political crisis in Athens is imminent. FARM LABOR IN CANADA. In order to increase the .supply of farm labor the Government of Ontario has agreed to allow fifteen thousand students of high schools and colleges to work on farms from May to October without forfeiting their status. GERMAN TRICKS IN CHINA. The police in the French Concession discovered at the bottom of a well on a German's premises eight cases of Hotchkiss shells, suitable for arming merchantmen. 'SUGAR SHORTAGE IN AUSTRIA. Amsterdam, March 6. The Austrian Government is issuing sugar cards. Everybody's supply is limited to 1 % kilograms (Y%lb) monthly.
