NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE, OPPOSES WET CANTEEN! < SPECIAL RESOLUTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Associativa Wellington, Last Night. At a special meeting of the exeentiy* of tho New Zealand Alliance the follawing resolutions were adopted:—"That tn« Now Zealand Alliance stands defnitely and unflinchingly opposed to the establishment of wet canteens in '. military camps, a« being opposed to \ military discipline and efficiency"; "that tot the best interests of our soldiers in training! and of those who have returned from the front, the Alliance earnestly appeals to the Government to follow tha example of the military authorities »t Home by severely restricting the hour* of sale of liquor, and by making all forms of "shouting" illegal, and in th» meantime begs all true friends of th» ?oldiers and of the Empire to discouraga 'shouting' in. every possible way"; "that whereas the war has reached a-staged at which a call for national and individual economy a nd self-denial,.nnd for military and industrial efficiency, has become clearer and stronger than ever, this executive regrets that the Defence authorities should be embarrassed < by demands for relaxing the present restrictions on the worst enemy of all thesa causes, and considers that the thanks of the community are due to the Mini:ter of Defence for the, firm stand that ha has taken in opposition to these demands, and that he should be supported by all good citizens in maintaining 'Jw4 extending the present safeguards, bath Inside and outside the camps."
