A BANKRUPT BUTCHER.
WORKED FOR HIS WIFE WITHOUT WAGES. A meeting of creditors in the estate of William Henry Black, butcher, of Warea, will be held at the office of the Deputy Official Assignee on Friday, at 2 p.m. In a statement the bankrupt says that a little over three years ago he started business as a butcher at Opunake. Tie had no capital, but Gillies and Nalder started him. and he was backed l)y his wife. He made nothing, and his wife paid some of his debts, but he still owes £lsfl 10s. "I have since then been working for my wife without wages," continued the statement. "She leased a farm and I have been living on the farm, which is at Warea. I have seven children. I have nothing. 11iave no means to pay my debts and I was forced to file as a warrant was out for my arrest, under an order." The bankrupt puts his unsecured creditors at £159 10s, and his assets are nil.
