Mr. Meagher explains his reason for his motion censuring Mr. Pearce. As Mr. Holman had announced his intention to introduce an Early Closing Bill on the reassembling of Parliament, he considered Mr. Pearee'g action calculated seronsly to einbam.ss the State Government. AN APPEAL TO THE STATES. Melbourne, Feb. 24. Mr. Pearce has announced that the Federal Government asked the New South Wales and Queensland Governments to provide for early closing, but no particular hour was mentioned except as regard the time when soldiers returned to camp.
