MOA ROAD BOARD AFFAIRS.

(To the Editor.) ' Sir, —I want to make a strong protest about the way the ratepayers are treated by the Moa Road Board. Today, I carae into Inglewood to pay my rates. I called along at the office just before twelve o'clock and four.d no one there. But I thought perhaps the rate collector had gone home earl}' for lunch. At one o'clock I called again, and there was still a locked door. At two o'clock I camo again, but found no one at the office. You can just imagine how I felt, sir, to havn to make all these trips down to the office and to find no one there, although the office is supposed to be open nearly all day Wednesday, which is the sale day, when most of us farmers like to do our business. I tried again at two o'clock, but it was still "no go." I wasn't the only one, either. There were some other ratepayers on the same errand, some from J.epperton, from Kairnata, from Tiirala, from Tnriki. and from away up near the radius line on Mt. Egmonl—all saying some fairly strong things about the way our office affairs were being managed. At about halfpast two o'clock a young lady relieved me of my payment for rates. What I want to say is this, Is the road board is justified in closing the office without advertising the new policy, thus causing considerable inconvenience to the —I am etc., RATEPAYER.
