ELDERLY WOMAN SENTENCED TOIMPRISONMENT. SEVERE COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Paimorston X.', Fob. 21. As a sequel to an occurrence at the railway station some weeks ago, Ellen Fuller was charged before Mr. Povnton, S.M.. at the Magistrate's Court this morning, that alio did publish, on January 1 Oth last, a .statement to the effect, '•it is always tlhe same with you —— Britishers. King George is a • When the Kaiser comes he will have the lot of you slaughtered. The Kaiser is my lord and master." The accused failed to appear or to he represented by counsel. The Marge was made under the War Regulations Act, 1014. Evidence was given by John Stanbrook, railway porter, who stated that accused was not drunk at the time, but was very excited. He heard the language complained of. In reviewing the facts of the case, Sergeant Henry informed the Court that the accused was a Norwegian by birth, and had been resident in the dominion for forty years. She was seventy years of age.
In imposing a penalty of two months' imprisonment, his Worship observed that the ease was not one for a fine. It was an illustration of gross ingratitude. Accused was no doubt well treated in t'his Uiitish dominion, and enjoyed all the privileges of citizenship. The utterances were abominable. The ease was one for a severe penalty, and showed the necessity for strict dealing. _
