PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
THE RECRUITING SCHEME.
The adjourned meeting of th» Patriotic Committee Mas held last-night when Mr. J. K. Wilson presided over a good attendance.
Mr. Wilson gave a detailed report of the business done at the conference in Wellington of Patriotic Committees. The circular from the Recruiting Board was read and aroused a good deal of discussion. It was pointed out that the Mayor intended to call a meeting of representatives of public bodies in New Plymouth to discuss the scheme, anj it was decided to defer action pending the conference.
The delegates who attended the meeting to arrange a patriotic gala day at (lie sea side reported that it had 'been < decided to hold the function at the East' End beach on March flth. ' The arrangements were approved. An offer to organise a sacred concert for a Sunday evening on a date to bi arranged was received from Mr. E. Gilmour.—The offer was accepted with. thanks.
An application was received from the Y.M.C.A. for a contribution to it* film's, —The matter was held over iyitil nevt meeting.
