RAILWAY WORKERS.
INCREASE OF WAGES DEMANDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. At a meeting of railway employees yesterday the following resolution was carried: "That this representative meeting emphatically protests against the attitude of the Minister of Railways with regard (o the increase of pay to railway men, and considers tlint members have borne with this attitude long enough and demand an all-round increase of at least two shillings per day. Failing a satisfactory reply within a fortnight the executive council will be urged to return to Wellington immediately to consider what further drastic action be taken. 'Unit in view of the unsatisfactory interview with the Prime Minister and Minister of Railways, this branch now calls upon the executive at once to convene a special conference, as requested by thirty branches, representing 5000 members.''
A WANCJANCT MOTION. Wanganui, Yesterday. A special general meeting of 'the Amalgamated Railway Society was addressed by the president, and the. following motion carried:—"That in the event of the Government refusing to increase pay, the executive council immediately convene a meeting of the Wellington branch representatives, who will act in accordance with instructions received from their respective brandies, such instructions to be given by spetial meetings of the various branches.'' A DANNEVIRKE RESOLUTION. Dannevirke, Yesterday. The Bannevirke branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants unanimously supported the Timaru resolution that the Government should take immediate steps to cope with the cost of living, or else nothing less than 2s a day increase would be demanded.
