Simon Hoddinott, aged 45 ; a farmer, recently of Rangitikei, when with his son felling a dry tree on Saturday evening was struck by the tree or a loose limb, and received fatal injuries. He leaves a wife and a young family. FATAL BOARDING-HOUSE FIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Waihi, Yesterday. A two-storied boarding-house containing about forty rooms, at Karangahake, seven miles from Waihi. was totally destroyed by fire at 3 o'clock on Sunday morning. The fire resulted in an elderly woman, named Dawson, being burnt to death. Two other occupants, Slevin and Griffin, miraculously escaped, after being badly burned.
