Colonel Pringle, of Palmerston Sort I who has been visiting New Plymouth has returned to Palmerston.

Sir. W, G. K. Kenrick, S.M.. Hawora, who is on extended leave, is in Hawera. He has already benefited by the rest he has been taking in the Hgwko's Bay and Gisborne districts. Mrs. Pellew (of New Plymouth) ha» received advice that her son, Private Walter Lewis Pellew, has been admitted to the N.Z. General Hospital, Pont riu Koubbeh, on February 12, suffering frot neuritis.

A number of members of the Hawen Golf Club met on Thursday to say farewell to Mr. V. G. Treweek, who haa been spending a few days in Hawcra, and who was about to return to cuntj) at Featherston. Mr. F. G. Kimball, president of the club, made a presentation to Mr. Treweek.

The doatli occurred yesterday of th« Rev. H. .T. Lewis. Mr. Lewis, who had recently been in bad health, retired from tlui active ministry of the Presbyterian Church six years ago. He came to the Dominion about 30 years ago, and occupied charges at Kelson, Dunediii, Gor«, \Vood\ville, and Pacroa. Since reilding in New Plymouth Mr. Lewis his acted as relieving minister on many occasion! when his health permitted. He was a keen student, and never lost touch with the progress of modern thought, so always proved an inspiring speaker, being particularly happy in his addresses to boys. Ilia lectures on literature were also valuable in stimulating interests which are apt to be forgotten in the general rush for amusement. Mr. Lewis was a familiar figure on the bowling green, thoroughly enjoying the popular game. He leaves' a widow, two WB! and three daughters.
