NEW PLYMOUTH RETAINS BANNER. Fitzroy yesterday made a second attempt to capture the banner, but the holders (New Plymouth) proved too strong a combination, defeating the challengers by '2B points, the total scores being New Plymouth 130, Fitzroy 102. At iive out of the six rinks the play was fairly even, but H. Smart ran away from Olivers who only; scored on live heads, securing n against his opponent's' .'SI. Hall and Lealnnd had a close go up to the fifth head and then I.ealand went ahead, but Hall managed In notch 4 on the IDth head and so made his score more respectable. The green played well, and some very good shots wi're put in, the winners showing on the whole to advantage, but this was partly due to playing on their own green, lietails of the scores are as follow.
