TROUBLE AHEAD.
RAILWAY WORKERS' DEMANDS, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. At a meeting of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, held at Palmerston North, the following resot lution was carried: "That this meeting is of opinion that the time has arisen when the Executive Council he called upon to demand Is per day increase of pay for all railwaymen, as they fla4 that owing to the large amount of exploitation being permitted I>y the Government is causing the cost of living to increase, and the purchasing power of a sovereign to decrease considerably 1 * The railwaymen of this country cannot exist on the present wage. . Owing to the prosperity of the farming community at the present time, which is du« to the extraordinary prices of farming: commodities, we suggest that the fundi necessary to increase railwaymen'! wageg be drawn from an increased tarjlj ion farm produce.
