The Bank of England return for the [last week gives the following items: — £ Bullion 53,897,000 Reserve 3!),8(14,000 Nolo circulation .. 32,80(1,000 Public deposits ..112,114] ,000 Other deposits ...• 108,531,000 Proportion of reserve to liabilities, 24.43 per cent. Short loans are quoted at 4} per cent., which is the same rate that ruled last week. THE PRODUCE MARKET. , Wheat is quieter and easier. Flour is firm and inactive. Oats are quiet. Bahia Blancft, February-March shipment, 34s to 339. Peas and beans are steady and quiet. Butter is steady, with Colonial firmer. The quantity marketed is small owing to slow discharge. Australian choicest salted, 146s to 148s, unsalted 156s to 100s. New Zealand salted 150s to 1545, misalted 160s to 1645. Argentine Baited 1445, unsalted 150s to 1525, Cheese is easier owing to the larger prospective supplies. New Zealand 975. Sugar is firm. American granulated 35s cwt. Bradford wool.—There is small business, and prices were well maintained. METAL MARKETS. copper, on spot £lO4 to "£103; electrolytic £132 to £l3O. Tin, on spot £17!) 10s to £I7D ss. Pig Tron, A3s 7-Jd. Lead, £32 to £3l 15s. Spelter, £92 to £9O. RISE IN FREIGHTS. Freights to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide will be raised ten shillings a ton after March 1. It is probable they will also be raised for Queensland and New Zealand.
