A large gathering of Protestant bodies to commemorate the first Christian service in 17SS was addressed in a distinctly Empire tone. COST OF LIVING. Melbourne, Feb. 7. The statistician estimates that the cost of living in 1015 was 27.S per cent, higher than in 1911, and 12 per cent, hisher than in 1914. TROUBLE AT BROKEN HILL. Sydney. Feb. 7. The Broken Hill strike has reached a dangerous stage. Considerable damage has been done to private property. The police are unable to cope with the disorder. The Barrier Miner is distributed under guard. SURPLUS SUPPLY OF STEEL. Melbourne, Feb. 7. The export of steel is permitted owing to the surplus.
