' A BOAT PICKED UP. , By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, Jan. 30. The Appam ig one of Elder, Dempster and Co.'s show boats. It is splendidly fitted ami has a wireless installation. Captain Harrison is one of the best known West African navigators. The vessel left Dakar, the capital and seaport of Senyal on January 11 and was last seen on the 14tli. A boat was picked up, quite new and capable of carrying forty people. It was probably damaged by » passenger steamer hitting it in the darkness. Search revealed no wreckage in the vicinity of the boat. The company suggests 'that as one boat is afloat others may be picked u» by passing vessels.
