LABOR CONFERENCEi A BLUSTERING MA.XIFE.STO. By Telegraph.-Jress Association, Wellington, Last Night. A conference of Now Zealand Labor organisations, convened by the Federation of Labor, has issued a manifesto which declares its opposition to conscription, a nd says that the introduction thereof will be resisted to the utmost. The manifesto says that the imposition of conscription will be a grave and unjustifiable reflection on the courage of New Zealandors, and it upholds the voluntary principle. In order to finance •New Zealand's participation in the war, and improvements in soldiers' pay and pensions, the conference urges drastic' taxation to the extent of the confiscation to the State's use of all incomes in excess of a soldier's pay. The manifesto declares that inscription of .wealth should precede conscription of rieish and blood.
