CROQUET.
NEW PLYMOUTH V. STRATFORL". A team of ladies from the New Ply mouth Croquet Club journeyed to Stratford on Tuesday, and spent a most interesting day at croquet with the ladies of the Stratford Club. Singles and doubles were played, though one or two of the doubles could -*tf. bo flnUhed owing to lack of timeTand in singles New Plymouth won by 124 to 76, while Stratford led in the doubles by 133 to 162. The grand total was tints 2'Jtl to 265 in favor of the visitors. The lawns of the Stratford Club were in splendid order, and the members spared no j'»ij:.s to give the visitors a good time.' Following are the scores (New Plymouth players being mentioned first in each instance): — Doubles.—Miss Norman and Mrs. Whetter 26 v. Mrs. King and Mrs. Curtis 6; Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Fookes 25, v.
