HIGHLY COLORED.
WHIPPING OF GERMANS AT . i RABATJL. . AMUSING PROTESTS FROM - GERMANY. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Jan. 25, 5.5 p.m. London, January 24. The public whipping of Germans at Rahaul hag deeply excited Germany, where it is regarded as one of the greatest horrors of the war. The Wolff Australian Government disapproved of the Administrator's action, which was ordered not to occur under any circumstances, and that the British Government termed the action incorrect, and that the Administrator received official warning. Meanwhile, the German Government is demanding complete satisfaction and the adequate punishment of the officers responsible. Negotiations are proceeding, but Australia's great distance a way is retarding them. Count Revenßow violently protests against allowing the subject to drop, stating that the official whipping of Germans is no more an incident than the Baralong murders, but is the outcome of the English system that everything German and all Germans must be murdered, dishonored, degraded and robbed. The outbursts are specialty, amusing in view of the fact that General Holmes has been promoted temporarily to command of the Second Australian Division.
