FRENCH AIR RAID ON mct». GERMAN REPORT. Received. Jan. 25, 8.30 p.m. London, .tan. 24. A German wireless says: An enemy squadron bombed Metz. One bomb fell on the residence of a bishop, and one in the courtyard of a hospital. Two civilians were killed am' eight injured. One Vrench aeroplane was shot down. Our aviators bombed the railway and military works behind the Frem.h front.
BRILLIANT EXPLOIT. BY 'MANY FRENCH AEROPLANES. Re.civod Jan. 2-", 5.5 p.m. Salonika, -Jan. 24. Forty-five French aeroplanes raided Monastir on Sunday morning, 'i ho flight occupied two hours. There was n boisterous wind across the Monastir ranges. Some nf the planes bombarded the German and Rulgarian headquii.'v-rs with gunfire, and others dropped hr,m:<6, damaging the railway station, barracks, and munition depot. The aviators, though vigo"t>i.wly shelled, returned safely and dropped a ii.w bombs on the Bulgarian encampment at Ghevgheli. The feat is regarded as (he most brilliant exploit yet of French aviators. THE DOVER RAID. Received -Jan. 25, 8.30 p.m. London, Jan. 24. The Press Bureau states that a German seaplane approached Dover in the afternoon. All the anti-aircraft guns were utilised, and two British aeroplanes pursued the enemy.
