(From our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Jan. 25. NORTH TARASTAKI PATRIOTIC LEAGUE. The weekly meeting of the above League was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, the numberous sub-branches being well represented, ills Worship the Mayor occupied the chair. Were that when the country districts had been waited on' with a view to joining in with the League it had been made clear by Waitara representatives that the branches would have voting powers equal to that of Waitara, and it was not desired to go back on what had been promised. A suggestion was made by Mr. Halcombe to the effect that an executive should be formed, to have control of the League. It was finally decided to [ form such an executive, to consist of two members from each branch, the president of the League being chairman, and to have a easting vote. The matter of "the battle of the bullion" was brought up, it being stated by Mr. Foreman that a number of branches would find it difficult to be in at. "the kill." It was stated that the branches had been left to make their own arrangements, and it would be a great pity if they were unable to join forces with Waitara. The next market day under the auspices of the Xorth Taranaki Patriotic League is to be held on Saturday next, 29th Jan. It is hoped that those able to do so will forward produce, etc., to the mart by Saturday. GENERAL. There was a large attendance at the sacred concert given by the band last Sunday afternoon. The collection taken up in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund bv Privates Sofl'e and Bichcno realised" £3 18s 2d, The s.s. Paparoa completed her shipment in 24 barge loads, and sailed for Wanganui yesterday morning. Her cargo for London consisted of 3525 quarters and 103 shanks beef; 174(1 carcases mutton; 30S pieces veal; 23 carcases pork; 88 crates mutton; 104' boxes frozen sundries; 320 casks tallow; 287 skins and hides; 553 boxes canned meats; 12 casks and 2 boxes casings; 2403 bales wool; and 1011 carcases mutton and 2988 carcases lamb for Avonmouth.
