WOOL AND WHEAT MARKETS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, January 23. Wheat is held at 3d to fid advance. Seven thousand tons of Australian April shipment sold at 7s. For the Mediterranean the wheat and flour afloat is 2,120,000 quarters, for the Continent '2,580,000 quarters, Atlantic shipments 889,000 quarters. Pacific 22,000 quarters; total for Europe 1,040,000 quarters, including Argentina -22,000 quarters. Wool.—The number of hales catalogued to date is 33,305, and bales sold 32,385. There is a strong sale and keen competition and all classes are hardening daily. The following prices were realised for the fleece portions of the Xew Zealand cdips named:—-'.Maraeteka, top price lOd, average 18% d; Christ - ehnrch 24% d and 10% d, Piako 21d and 20i/4d, Akarino 22d and 20% d. LONDON DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. (Special to Daily News). Patea, Jan. 24. Messrs Lonsdale and Co. report:— Butter, market, slow, with a tendency to be easier. Prices: 144s to 1465; uiisaltcd, is6s to 160s. Cheese, market steadv at 9Ss. , LONDON WOOL SALES. The Xew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date JBth Inst.:— The wool sales opened on the ISth inst. with a strong market. As compared with December 23, merino greasy U par to 5 per cent, higher, while scoured as well as crossbred slipe are !> per cent to 7 1 /. per cent, higher. Greasy and scoured erossbreds are barely represented.
