* *&.- (From Uur Own Correspondent.) ) Stratford, Saturday. Mr. W. Campbell Eaikes, fovmcrlv a well-known resident of Stratford and now a resident of YVhangarei, is on a visit to Stratford. An information has been laid against a well-known Toko resident on an alleged ■serious charge. The ease will come betore next Friday',; court. A meeting of ,ihe General Committee of the Strntl'iird Patriotic Committee will be held on .Monday afternoon, when the matter of Stratford taking part in the Rattle of tln> Bullion will he discussed. At the Police Court this morning an old lady* was committed to the mental hospital. The two days rain has done a tremendous lot of good to the district, and the turnip crop have greatly benefitted. Residents in the North end of the town last evening had no light for some time owing to the main wires fusing. The Borough staff are still busy at work breaking up the asphalt footpaths, and putting them down to the permanent level. It will be some time before {fie work will be completed.
