PATEA FREEZING COMPANY.
Last year was a record one in the history of the Patca Freezing Companv. the quantity of stock killed up to December 31 being as follows: Cattle (jfis Sheep ]i;n" Vealers 374 Lamb 7289 This year for corresponding period the figures are:— Cattle ]3GS Sheep lfi9!i Vealers 005 Lambs 11,228 Altogether the excess of stock slaughtered over that killed during the corresponding period of last year is equal to 8500 freight carcases. , Thanks to the new freezing chambers that have been erected recently, the machinery for which will be installed in about ten days' time, the scope of the works will be still further increased, so thait 100 cattle and 'OOO lambs will be able to be killed each day—a big advance on anything that has been carried out in the past. The works, built as thc-y are in ferroconcrete, are works that will last practically for all time, and their presence in the district should assist materially in building up the town. In fact, at the present juncture they are undoubtedly the town's best asset, and business people and residents alike will welcome the signs of progress. —Patca Press.
