SHIPPING SPACE.
STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The representatives of shipping companies had a conference with, the Prime Minister to-day with reference to the shortage of shipping space. The proceedings were adjourned until next week, in order that additional information might be obtained regarding the position. "We discussed the arrangements necessary for the shipment of New Zealand wool, meat and dairy produce," said Mr. Massey to a reporter latter. "Every possible effort is being made to meet the difficulty that has arisen. Tt is not expected that there will be any serious trouble with regard >to insulated cargo, but the difficulty is to deal with the large stocks of wool that have accumulated at ports during the last few weeks. The number of non-insulated ships available ;(his season is considerably smaller than at the same period of last year, and the fact that shearing generally been late has increased the congest'-"' - if are doing the best we can • -" a ' 'circumstances, and I hope - ' ■" B trouble is not going to be of \, duration."
