ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DEATHS BY - By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 19. A small boy, miii/iI Roy Percival Kerr, eleven years of age, was drownctl in a pool near tlio Karori reservoir on Tuesday afternoon. Ifc appears tlmt deceased had boon playing with two other boys in the vicinity of the pool, and at about 3.30 o'clock lie was discovered in the water, dead. His companions, who were seen with him half-an-hour previously, had disappeared. Auckland, Jan. 1!). Williauk Manning, a flax-eu'tter, aged forty-three, fell from a punt at the Rangitaild outlet and was drowned. At the inquest it was stated that deceased sank in fifteen seconds. A verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. Dunedin, January 10, Frank Martinelli, a leader of the orchestra at the Grand Picture Theatre, was drowned in Broad Bay this morning while boating. The body'was recovered. BURNS PROVE FATAL. Dunedin, Jan. Ift. Christina Loeffler, an elderly married woman, was tending a fire which she had put on outside her dwelling-house at Waitalnma Gully when her dress caught /ire, and she shortly afterwards succumbed to lier injuries. THE RICCARTON ACCIDENT; Christeluirch, Last Night An inquest on the bodies of three children (Vera, Olive, and Sain Miunford), who lost their lives by drowning in the pond at Riccarton racecourse yesterday afternoon was held to-night. A verdict of '•'found drowned" was returned, no blame being attachable to anyone. Mr. W. H. Wanklyn, secretary to the Canterbury Jockey Club, stated that the Club would take steps to have all , dangerous spots around the lake fenced off with wire netting. PORTER'S SHOCKING DEATH. Wellington, Last Night. J. Chapman, about twenty-seven years old, a gioods porter on relieving duty at ! the Petone sttaion, met his death in a shocking manner, a little after seren •o'clock to-night.
