BOOTY AT GALLIPOLI. Q T 'FSTIONS IX THE HOUSE. Received Jan. 20, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 19. In the House of Commons Sir W. 'P. Byles asked if the booty left at Gallipoli was .'allied at two million pounds, and included fifty, .thousand blankets and a million kilogrammes of oat 3 and barley. Mr. Tennant, in reply, eaid that the primary object »'as to safely remove tile troops, and then as much material as possible. A considerable amount of stoves tva# abandoned, but after being destroyed it was impossible to estimate the value. It was possible that mor* stores might have been saved, but public opinion would endorse the Government's action in removing the personnel. Lieutenant-Colonel Loekwood asked: '■Would the value approach two million pounds?'' Mr. Tennant replied: "No, It would not lie one-quarter, nor perhaps oneeighth, of that amount."
