ELECTION OF OFFICERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 10. At tlie anual conference of nurserymen to-day 4he following officers were elected: President, Mr. T. Horton, F.R.H.S, (Hastings); vice-presidents, Messrs T. Waugh (Wellington) and K. Nairn (Christchurch), and the chairmen of the district councils; past president, Mr. W. S. Johnston (Auckland); committee, Messrs F. Bennett, \V. E. I.ippiott, A, McDonald and P. 0. Mackay; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. 0. A. Green (Auckland); auditor, Mr. W. S. Johnston (Auckland).. District councils: Auckland, Mr, D. A. Hay (chairman), and Mr. W. S. Johnston (secretary); Hawko's P,ay, Messrs. T. Horton, and J. D. Commons; Wanganui, Messrs. J. P. Laird and W. T. Bennefield; Taranaki, Messrs. P. McK. Morison and V. 0. DaVies; Wellington, Messrs R. Cooper and E. Gibbons; Canterbury North, 'Messrs. R. Nairn and S. G. Smith; Canterbury South, Messrs P. "C. Allen and H. Edginlon: Otago, Messrs G. Howdan and G. A. Skeeno.j Southland, Messrs E. C. Service and T. D. Lennie. APPLES FOR EXPORT. Wellington, Jan. 20. The Conference discussed tho question of the number of varieties of apples advisable to use for export purposes. Mr. Campbell, of the Department of Agriculture, said the* department liad made a list of fifteen varieties suitable for both islands. Mr. Kirk said the list would lie published shortly in the department's journal. Mr. Green moved that there be a meeting of representatives of the Fruitgrowers' Conference, orchard instructors, and lilic Nurserymen's Association to consider the matter. The motion wan carried, the selection of the committee to be left to the executive.
