IXGLEWOOD. (From Our Own Correspondent). Tlie funeral of the late Mr. 0. Leech on Monday was largely attended. At the request of the Chamber of Commerce all the uusiness promises closed between the hours of 2 and 3 o'clock. Deceased was accorded a Masonic funeral, as lie was a member of the Masonic- fraternity for many years. Tlie Ven. Arelideeon Evans, P.G.C., conducted at the graveside the Anglican Church service, and the Masonic eeremonv was conducted in an impressive manner by Bro. Geo Young. Mr. H. A. Stratford, headmaster of the public school, lias been gazetted a first-lieutenant, to be temporarily attached to the eadets. Mr. J. Ciimmings has suffered lately through petty thieving, having had his potato patch visited several times. He expresses a wish in the local paper that the thieves should leave the small potatoes at his house for his own personal use. The Ladies' Committee intend openin» Rc l Cross mnrt on Saturday in tlie Coliee Palace buildings at 10.30 a.m., when they will be pleased to receive gifts of all kinds which are saleable Mr. E. Beggs, 0 f the local Post Office start, left last Monday for the Trentham camp. The Borough Council staff are pusliiii" on apace with the kcrbing and channelling in Rata street.
