There were numerous land slides and houses were shaken down. The Tonia at Rabaul Harbor rose ten and numbers of buildings and the jettv were badly strained. „ Sydney, Jan. 14. lhe seismographs at Rivorview recorded an earthquake of great intensity five hundred miles north-east of Port Darwin. The shock was the severest yet experienced.
