THOSE CHIMES.
To the Editifr. Sir,—l have lately spent .'i l-'cst enjoyable holiday in your town and district. and, would like to express my great appreciation of their natural beauties and of tlio manner in which the local authorities and your public-spirit-ed citizens have preserved those Beauties and made them so accessible to all. There is, however, one complaint I have to make against your community—that is allowing the chimes of your Post Office to rob the unaccustomed visitor of lis proper sleep. Surely it is unnecessary for this more or less musical performance to be inflicted upon nj throughout the live-long night. I trust to visit your town again before loAg m case I can anticipate having more reposeful nights, and hope that the movement I understand is being made to give the chimes a nightly rest will be successful.—l am, etc., AUCKLAND.
