OFFICIAL REPORTS. INSIGNIFICANT GERMAN SUCCESS. London, Jan. 10. A German communique states:: —We attacked north-west of Massiges and tool; prisoner 423 French, including seven officers. A French couater-attavk 'failed. A French communique stales that the enemy gained a momentary footing at two points on the first line north-east of Butte du Mesnil, A vigorous counterattack drove them out, and they now occupy only two small parts of advanced trenches.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S SBPOUT. Wellington, Jan. 11. The High Commissioner reports under date London, January It), 4.55 p.m.:— The enemy (luring the course of yesterday attempted no less than four concentric actions on a front of eight kilometres, at Four Courtine, at Mont Tetu, and to the West and East of Butte du Mesnil. The French fire decimated the adversary and 'brought the offensive to a ilead stop. Tlic enemy was only successful in gaining a footing at two points, on the first line north-east of Mesnii, and west of Tetu. The counterattack, drove him out. The enemy occupies only two smaller elements of the French advance trenches.
