AMUSEMENTS.
THE EMPIRE. To-day at 5.30 at tin; Empire Theatre, the second instalment of the nine-mile serial pholo-play, "The Million Dollar Mystery," will be introduced. This week's instalment is entitled "The False Mend," and it is stated by the management to contain more thrills than tho first episode. In the- first instalment Norton escaped from the gang who arc after the treasure, and in this episode the. thieves turn their attention to Norton's daughter, whom they attempt io abduct. How Florence, escaped from the. clutches of tin; gang is told in a very thrilling manner in "The False Friend." The. supporting subjects include, a really funny Keystone comedy, "Those, College Girls," .and ''The Royal Danish Navy,' 1 a splendid naval series, the "Pathe Gazette/' ami an exciting drama, Clifl Girl."
" THE MASTER KEY."—MATINEE TO-DAY. The splendid selection of kinema gems, headed by "The Master Key," "Outcasts of Society'' and "Fatty's Tintype Tangle." again attracted a good attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening. Commencing at 2..j0 this afternoon, ilierc will be a matinee performance of this brilliant triple-star programme, and the full selection will bo repeated for the last occasion this evening. Picture patrons who have not seen the iirst episode <if the spectacular Trans-Atlantic serial, "The Master Key," are particularly requested to note that to-night will be the linal screening of this instalment.
'•' THE CONSPIRACY "—A FAMOUS PLAYERS' MASTERPIECE. At the Theatre Royal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next, the Royal pictures will introduce another Famous Players "feature" photo-play, entitled "The Conspiracy." Theatre-goers are now familiar with the excellence of all productions from this world-famed studio and it is only necessary to state that ''Tho. Conspiracy" is one of their best efforts, and features John Emerson, one of America's front-rank actors, to assure the success of this three nights season. ''The Conspiracy" is slightly more sensational than the usual story from this studio, and deals rattier extensively with the operations of a gang of White Slavers known as the Scarlet Band. In fact, tho main story hinges on the operations of this disreputable gang and their victim, a young stenographer, Margaret Holt. Tiie supporting films include a line picture of the "Labor Day Sports" at Auckland.
