STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. This morning, at 2.45, the iirebells sounded an alarm, and the glare in the sky attracted many to Kenton Street. It was found that the lire, was in a big shed and cufehouse owned by Mr. J. Donald, in which was stored his Cadillac motor-car and large brake. The Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene, but could no nothing as the water pressure was low. The car was insured in the .Commercial union for £2OO, and the building in the North British and Mercantile *"or fl 50. Adjutant Cook, officer in charge of the local Salvation Army, is-being transferred to the Thames corps. The adjutant was well liked, and will be missed by all. The Salvation Army Silver Band gave a most successful concert last evening in the Town Hall in aid of the Serbian Relief Fund, £39 14s being the net result of the band's efforts.

In our advertising columns will be found an advertisement from his Worship the Mayor, extending an invitation to all men leaving with .the 12th Reinforcements, and all returned soldiers, and the members of the Egmont Club to be present at the Egmont Club's rooms to a social evening this (Friday) evening. Owing to the short notice, his Worship asks all who are leaving to accept this j invitation.
