WAITARA WEST.

MEETING OF THE ROAD BOARD. The Waitara West Road Board met at Lepperton on Tuesday. .Present: Messrs Lepepr (chairman), Herrick, Surrey, Turnbull and Tate. Sir. Lepper gave notice of motion—"That the Board take the necessary steps to give effect to the by-laws as drafted." It was decided to inform Mr. Harrison that the Board had consulted its solicitors, and considered it was not advisable to allow the settlers mentioned by him to merge in the Moa district, but was willing to help liim to raise a loan in order to metal the part of the road that would abut on to the Moa, It was resolved to leave the matter of the Waitara factory crossing in the hands of Mr. Herrick and the surfaceman to deal with. It was decided to leave the work on Kairau road in the hands of the Taranaki County Council, and the Board to pay half the cost of the same. The clerk reported a credit balance at the hank of £57 13s. At this stage the Board adjourned for half an hour in order that mouthers could attend the funeral of Mr. Wright. The clerk' was instructed to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs. Wright. On resuming, it was resolved that the surfacemen be instructed to impound all stock found grazing upon any road in the Waitara West Road Board's district. It was decided that the 3'/ 2 chains of metalling on the Acworth road he completed this season if convenient. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Pnrdie suggesting that he should put loin pipes in the crossing, but would leave the matter to his own discretion. The surfaceman was instructed to alter the pipes on the Bertrand road. Surfaceman Ward was instructed to do the backing of the small bridge on the Kelly road under the supervision of Mr. Turnbull. Accounts amounting to £l7l us Od were passed for payment.
