The Lemnos-Anzac service was again resumed and the only occasion on which anything approaching rough weather was experienced when wounded were on board was on November H when the Maheno proceeded to Kephelos Bay for shelter. After calling at Malta for Australian and New Zealand wounded the vessel called at Port Said on November 21. Suez was reached on the morning of the 26th. Two days later, after the Australians had been 'taken off and other New Zealand wounded were embarked, the steamer left for Colombo, en route for New Zealand.
(MAORI RESCUED BY SIGNALMAN. On December 8 after passing Miuii-o. j ! Island, a day's steam from Colombo, a Maori soldier jumped overboard. \ signaller, J. Pattc, who had been lent by the navy, gallantly went into the water to the nwrt assistance and a boat was despatched to the rescue. The Maori liad almost become, exhausted when the signalman reached him and rendered assistance until the arrival of j the ship's bo*t. Albany was reached on December- 22. I
