DOMINION'S PART.

RUAHINE ARRIVES. WITH MORE WOUNDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. Tho Ruahino has arrived, bringing 6 officers and 201 non-commissioned ollicers and men who hoarded her at Plymouth. All are convalescent. The majority were wounded in the early lighting at Gallipoli, a large proportion belonging to the main body, though tho. Reinforcements are represented up to the Fifths. Many of the men were wounded in the chest and sent to England for special treatment. They had a good voyage and a very fine reception at Capetown, the Governor-General, Viscount Buxton, extending a personal welcome. Each man was taken out for .motor excursions and entertained at clubs, etc.

All speak very highly of the treatment at the hospitals in Britain. Most of them were given free railway passes or reduced fares to enable them to go on sight-seeing tour's. The southerners go south by boat. A large proportion will shortly be fit to return to the front. Captain Wallingford is among them. The wounded men are being entertained at a civic reception and luncheon. The southerners go forward bv the Rualiine.

THE MAHENO'S PASSENGERS. Wellington, Yesterday. The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. G. W. Russell, stated to-day that he had received word that of the men detained in Auckland from the Maheno, 90 were discharged yesterday by two medical boards, which had sat. Further discharges would be made from to-day onwards as tho bacteriological cultures' were examined and it was found the men were free from disease and were not carriers.

300 MEN WANTED AT ONCR ANOTHER APPEAL FROII THE PREMIER. Wellington, January 4. Mr. Masscy issued tlie following appeal this evening:—"The holiday season is now coming to an end, and I take, tins opportunity of impressing on the ynunj; men of the Dominion that, approximately, 300 recruits are wanted to go into camp at once, These are required for the Eleventh Reinforcements, and i trust that the vacancies now existing will be filled in a very few days. ['in: Defence authorities are, however, naturally anxious that training shall proceed regularly and properly, and that every New Zealand soldier shall have had, before leaving his own country, sufficient training to fit him for the very important duties that later he will be called upon to undertake. Hence the urgency rf the request that is being made. Wounded and invalided men are now coming back to New Zealand in considerable numbers—men who have done their full duty on the battle field, who deserve well of their fellow-citizens, and whoso places must be filled. I have no hesitation in saying that in the present crisis it Is the duty of every young man whose eircumstan'ces will allow of his leaving this country to join at the earliest possible moment with those, whether in camp or in field, who have already proved their patriotism and loyalty by responding to their country's call."
