SALVATION ARMY.
SILVER BAND. The Auckland Silver Band, consisting of thirty players, are due to arrive by steamer on Friday morning and will pommence an eight days' tour jn. the Taranaki district, in aid of the Serbian Relief Funds. The Salvation Army have some splendid bands In New Zealand and the one under notice is considered by those qualified to judge to be classed amongst the best. In order to keep down the expenses it has been decided to ask friends to accommodate the visiting bandsmen for the three days' visty tp New jnd anyone whq pan take one or two'would oblige Adjutant Home hy letting him know, On New Year's Eva the band will render selection* in Devon Street, and one New Year's Day they will also give a special programme and the Serbian Relief Concert will be held in the Good Templar Hall in the evening. On Sunday special open-air gatherings will be frejd, and at night in the Theatre the band wifl Wider thrir special prograiflrfle entitled, "The Wreck of the Wairarapa."
CHRISTMAS CAROLLING. On Christmas Eve, the Salvation Army Band, to the delight of young and old, rendered carols in Devon Street, and their services were greatly appreciated. Qn Christmas morning, they went out agajn. Adjutant Home informs us that the amount coile'eted constituted a record for this band, it being £3O 10s, and he desires to thank all ttho helped to make up this splendid amount. During their visit to Westown, the inmates of the Old People's Home were not forgotten, and «» th? lftvn the. bandsmen rendered carols to the delight of the inmates.
