DUNEDIN WOOL SALE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Dec. 22. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, when 17,306 bales were offered, compared with 15,897 bales last year. There was a good attendance of buyers, including representatives from America, France, England, the local mills and speculators. There was strong American and French competition for super wools, the local mills having to pay extreme prices, while Bradford buyers were eager for top-making wools. Super half-breds were largely taken by the Dominion and Continent, while America and Bradford sought crossbreds. There was a 1 en demand and high prices for pieces. Compared with last December merinos showed an advance of 2d to 2Jd, half-breds 5d to 6d, crossbreds 6d to 7d, pieces 3d to sd. The following was the range of prices: Merino, super 14Jd to 16d, medium to good 12d to 13d, inferior lOd to lid; half-bred super 18Jd to 2JJd, medium to good 16d to 18d, inferior 13jd to 15d; crossbred, super 17! d to 19} d, medium to good 15Jd to inferior 12d to 14 jd; pieces, super 15 jd to 18Jd, medium to good 12d to 14Jd, inferior 9d to lid: first locks 7d to fld, second locks 5d to ojd.
