ELTHAM'S BIG DAY. The fifteenth annual gathering of the New Zealand Axemen's Association will he held at Eltham on Monday, Boxing Day. From the handicaps already published patrons will note the the lies! axemen and sawyers will be competing. Volzke, Eickstaedt, and King are already at Eltham and report that they and the other axemen are in good condition and some very fast timeß should be put up in the various heats. The cycling events have filled well, and in Griffin, the scratch man, the public will find one of the best riders in the Dominion. Alf. Parkes, a one-time grass-track champion, is also in good form, and he and the other riders should make the pace sound throughout. The Maori events are expected to fill well, entries closing on the ground. As ia the past numerous side shows will be oa the ground, whilst the kiddies are also receiving extra attention. Train arrange-' ments are very suitable for travellers from north and south. The Eltham Brass Band will be in attendance. Provided the weather holds good the carnival of 1915 should prove as successful as those of the past. To those who enjoy a programme of clean, interesting sport the Axemen's Carnival will fill the bill, and those who prefer a day in the country will find the day pass most pleasantly at Eltham.
