The ordinary weekly meeting took place on Monday evening, there being present delegates from Lepperton, Huirangi, Waihi and Urenni Apologies were received from Tikorangi and Uruti. His Worship the Mayor presided. Tikorangi, Lepjicrlon, [luirangi, and Uruti advised that they did not think It posible to support a Queen Carnival; Waihi was prepared to support should the proposal be gone on with. Mokan forwarded the sum of £2 for soldiers' comfort.;; Waitara Dairy Co. £3l 3s sd, and Xorth Taranaki Dairy Co. £3O 0s 10d, to be divided between the Wounded Soldiers and the Belgian Funds; Huirangi school £l6 ins for the Belgian Fund; and £!> was forwarded from the Lepperton school and Mrs. Denton's concert. It was resolved to ascertain from the Defence Minister if better arrangements can be made for tracing missig soldiers, the matter to be attended to by the inquiry committee. The chairman reported re a returned soldier, and the action taken by the committee was confirmed. It was decided to ascertain from the Minister of Defence whether it was not the Department's duty to provide for the necessary medical requirements or wounded soldiers. The rules drafted by the sub-committee were discussed and met with approval as a whole, very slight additions and modifications being suggested. These will be embodied and copies sent to all subbranches, and will be finally dealt with and adopted at the next meeting. It was decided to adjourn till after the holidays, and the next meeting will be held on January 10. OEXFRAL. Wool keeps rolling in to the shipping company's stores and the season should be a record one. It would be hard to make the weather suit everyone. Some of the farmers are praying for rain to keep feed moving, whilst others hope for a continuance of the present fine weather, more especially those with heavy hay or forward oat crops. Some crops are so heavy this year that even the thick mists have I lie effect of laying them over. The Uruti branch of the North Ta-.v naki Patriotic League forwarded the Sinn of £7l 2s 0d to the secretary of the League yesterday, to be devoted to various purposes, included in the amount was £S lGs from the school children, who asked that their prize money bo devoted entirely for patriotic purposes. Truly, the children generally have set many of their elders a noble'example of self-sacrifice that might well be emulated. The following letter was received by the secretary of the Patriotic League yesterday morning: "Please accept enclosed (12s), which is the proceeds from the performance of the "Hamm Scarnin Minstrels (the amateur performers), Kiwi Town.' We have great pleasure in handing it over to the Belgian. Relief Fund. We are, yours truly, the 'Harum Sea rums'." The writer of this unique letter has so far not been identified, but the good work is appreciated,
