RUSSIA'S TASK.
GERMANS PREPARING. FOR A NEW BIG OFFENSIVE. / Received Dec. 17, 5.5 pjn. Berne, Dec. 16. It is reported from Semlin that the Austro-Germans arc making great preparations for a new offensive in the Strypa region, hoping to expel the Russians from Galicia. Twenty batteries and 305 millimetre guns are leaving Skoda for Belgium for use against the British. petrograd, Dec. 16. Latest reports state that Germans are preparing for a great battle in the Dvinsk region. They are bringing up a number of heavy guns, and new regiments are arriving daily.
