On the Metropolitan trotting track this morning, Country Belle, who was paced, covered a mile in 2min 7 15sec., breaking the Australasian record. TARANAIvI CHRISTMAS MEETING. ACCEPTANCES TO-NIGHT. Considering the good stakes offered, and flie inducement offered to horse-owners by the Taranaki and Stratford meetings, which complete a four days' racing carnival within about a week, a generous response is expected. Race meetings this season are run solely for patriotic considerations, and therefore deserve the support of all. The local course is in fine order, and Mr. K. P. Webster and his assistants have everything in applepie order for a fine gathering. Mr. Gcq. Morse's handicaps have been framed on equitable lines, and Mr. T. Cameron will do the starting. Mr. J. H. Perrett will occupy the judge's box.
