STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. Mr. John Jago, a respected resident of Beaconsfield Road, Midhirst, died at his residence on Monday last. Mr. Jago has been farming in that district for many years, and was respected by all. The funeral took place this afternoon, and the very large attendance testified to the esteem in which he was held. The Hospital Board, after consulting them solicitor, have decided to pay the surcharges demanded by the AuditorGeneral, under protest. It is only fair to say the amount paid to the members averaged Ss Cd a meeting, while under t the new Act las will be the amount allowed to each member. The Convent School are holding their annual picnic at the Ngaere Gardens tomorrow (Thursday). Mr. Foley is inviting the pupils to attend the pictures in the evening as his guests. Five rinks from the Eltham Bowling Club will visit the Stratford green tomorrow afternoon to try conclusions with the local club.
