HARVEST LABOR.
CITIZENS TO HELP FARMERS. Now that the season for haymaking and harvesting is approaching and the scarcity of labor is being felt on account of the demands of war, the Harvest Labor Committee, formed in New Plymouth in the winter, reminds the farmer of its existence and aims. Farmers in the New Plymouth district are requested to send in a note of their requirements in men with number and approximate date, and while the committee cannot give any absolute gurantee that all demands will be satisfied, yet it will be their business to see that everything possible is done to assist the farmer to save his crops. The committee has already a list of men who are prepared to work as required. Any request for help is to be sent to the secretary (Mr. E. W. M. Lysons). Those who are willing to assist the farmers to save their crops are asked to please hand their names into Mr.'W. Ambury, Devon Street, New Plymouth. Owners of cars who are willing to assist in the above work by conveying workers to and from the farms are also requested to hand their names in to Mr. W. Ambury. The farmer is required to pay a fair and reasonable remuneration for work performed.
