ITALY.
, ON THE ISONZO FRONT. KXDID ITALIAN CllAiuiK. Rome, Dec. S. An Italian soldier, describing' the terrible Isonzo fighting, says that it lasted a fortnight, with an incessant bombardment and continuous charges. Three charges on one day killed, and the battle-cry "Savoia" echoed in the desolate valleys in vain. Many of our brothers laid down their lives, but we were undaunted. Suddenly, at midnight, in a blinding snowstorm, our battalion was ordered to attack. We climbed the precipitous heights. Snow whipped our faces, and we could hardly see a yard before us. There was no sign of the enemy until we were ten yards from our goal. Then a single cry rang out, our major's battlecry, '"Savoia." We caught up the sound, and fell on the trenches like a cannon ball. The first trench was full of corpses from the previous cannonading. We swept on, and carried the second and third lines, the enemy's survivors begging for mercy.
